In 2004, Ben Young started a small website called BlaherTeck. It archived a few WinBot Scripts and several other coding projects. It was more of a personal site than anything and most of the projects were created around the bases of objectives Ben needed accomplished. During the course of two years, BlaherTeck would slowly grow, adding more and more projects.
In 2006, BlaherTeck was changed to the correct spelling of BlaherTech. Along with this new change, the new BlaherTech became a small community of developers. A new site was created and more people became interested with the development of a few projects. Soon services started to form, adding revenue and value to BlaherTech. Ben started seeking friends to help him continue to nourish the small organization, hoping one day it would form a company.
Throughout the next four years, projects were added, such as; .NET Calculator, BTLib, SSDD, BTWWW, Ganole, B4, Several flash games, Devchekio, Shellenix and the IRC bot that started it all (WinBot) was now being distributed by BlaherTech. Some projects were never started, a few became replaced and others stopped being actively developed. Although BlaherTech still remained through all the ups and downs of perseverance.
Finally, in 2010, BlaherTech took a huge step forward and became what it is today. They defined themselves as a free and open-source community. Along with adding the BTL, removing several projects, they replaced BTWWW with Placeto CMS. A new entire website platform was created with the creation of Placeto and released. Services such as Ahobbler.com and SlickMail began to kick off. The organization was requiring several requests for website designs and needed to expand quickly.
The same year, "BlaherTech, LLC" was born. The new incorporated BlaherTech was created to handle the profit side, such as web development and IT solutions. While BlaherTech.org still remains today to provide free solutions to the open-source world. We stand here today with one goal in mind, information must be free and we will provide you with the data and tools to keep it that way.
